The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between cozy and chic, making it the ideal place for a laid-back meal or a special outing.

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the food. Bao Bar’s menu is centered around one iconic dish-the bao bun. This soft, pillowy bun, traditionally filled with savory meats and vegetables, is elevated here with a variety of creative fillings. From crispy pork belly to flavorful fried chicken, there’s a bao to satisfy every palate. The crispy pork belly bao is a must-try, featuring tender meat with a satisfying crunch, balanced with pickled vegetables and a drizzle of sweet and savory sauce. It’s the kind of dish that makes you savor every bite and leave you craving more.

But the bao buns are just the beginning. The menu at Bao Bar also offers a range of small plates, each bursting with flavor. The miso-glazed brussels sprouts are an unexpected favorite, crispy on the outside with a rich umami flavor. The dumplings are another crowd-pleaser, packed with juicy filling and served with a tangy dipping sauce that perfectly complements the savory goodness. For those who prefer a heartier meal, the ramen bowls offer a flavorful broth, tender noodles, and a variety of toppings that warm you right up.

One of the things that sets Bao Bar apart from other spots in San Diego is its commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. The chefs here don’t cut corners when it comes to sourcing the best produce and meats, which really shines through in each dish. For example, their spicy tuna bao features sustainably caught tuna and fresh vegetables, giving you a taste of something both indulgent and responsible.

If you’re a fan of craft cocktails, you’re in for a treat. Bao Bar’s drink menu is just as inventive as its food offerings. The drinks are well-balanced and pair beautifully with the bold flavors on the menu. A favorite is their "House Bao-tini," a unique spin on the classic martini, with hints of ginger and cucumber that refresh your palate between bites.

Bao Bar’s customer service is also worth mentioning. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to guide you through the menu and recommend pairings. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, you’ll feel right at home here. This Bao Bar in Liberty Market Place, San Diego, makes the best bao bun we have ever eaten. We were at a 3 day conference in the Brick and we got a couple of the buns every day. The buns are fresh, fresh, we chose the pork filling which also had a little cabbage, which you will see in the photo Service was excellent! Friendly, open to suggestions, and filled those buns to overflow. One is truly a meal! Go to that location. Parking is easy, abs Bao Buns is just to your left as you walk in the door.

We ordered the chicken satay and BBQ bao bun! The owner is awesome and she even through in an extra bao bun for free!! Great flavor. The bun was really full and soft and came with a lot of toppings. Prices were great, too.
